University monitoring Hurricane Irene

The FIU Emergency Management Group (EMG) is monitoring Hurricane Irene, which is expected to approach South Florida by the end of the week. At this time, all university operations are taking place as scheduled.

Members of the university community are being advised to stay alert to media updates about Hurricane Irene. EMG members are asking everyone to review personal as well as office/school plans to make sure they have needed supplies on hand should Hurricane Irene affect our area.

As the university ushers in a new semester, all members of the FIU community are being asked to familiarize themselves with FIU’s emergency communication plan.
