FIU football recorded another “first,” earning a win against a Big East Conference team — and they did it on national television, courtesy of ESPN.
The Panthers led the entire game after Winston Fraser returned an interception 71 yards for a touchdown midway through the first quarter. T.Y. Hilton had a huge night, scoring touchdowns on his first two catches and logging a school-record 201 yards receiving. FIU senior quarterback Wesley Carroll was 14-of-21 for 248 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The defense stifled the Cardinals for much of the game, recording five sacks and causing two turnovers in the win. Jonathan Cyprien had 11 tackles and Fraser had eight.
This was the first time the two teams had met.
My heart is filled with joy. I know this is emotional, so what, I don’t care.
GO PANTHERS!
I am so proud to be a Panther!! That game was amazing.. Our guys and coaches ROCK!!
Im proud of how we are doing. Since attending FIU ive always felt the school will surpass all the other schools in the state sooner or later. It nice to know that WE are heading in the right direction.
Let’s be realistic. They will not surpass the other florida schools. Louisville is not that great, impressive win but nothing to make a bold statement like that.
Awesome! First we win the Pizza Bowl and now this!!!
