Rajun Cajuns too hot for Panthers in 36-31 loss


FIU football suffered its first loss of the season, 36-31, against conference foe Louisiana-Lafayette at Alfonso Field in FIU Stadium.

The Panthers went into the game allowing less than 100 yards rushing per game. Against the Rajun Cajuns, however, they gave up 187 yards rushing and 419 total yards.

Senior quarterback Wesley Carroll injured his ankle in the first quarter when he was sacked and did not return for the remainder of the game. Quarterback Jake Medlock went 17-of-26 and threw for 216 yards.

Sophomore running back Kedrick Rhodes had a good night, running for 157 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries.

Senior wide receiver T.Y. Hilton saw limited action in the game thanks to a strained hamstring he suffered in the University of Central Florida game.
