Homecoming 2011 Sept. 25-Oct. 1 is just a few days away and organizers are pulling out all the stops to make this year’s celebration the biggest and best one yet.
While the FIU family will spend the next week finding out just what it would be like “If Roary Ran the Circus,” la pièce de résistance of the schedule of events will come Saturday, Oct. 1, when everyone is invited back to campus beginning at lunchtime.
A number of food trucks will be on hand at Modesto A. Maidique Campus for the first time, starting at 1 p.m., serving delicious meals until game time that evening against Duke at 7 p.m.
So stop on by. The trucks will be parked curbside on the south side of Campus Drive, from the far west side running along Lot 6 onward. (The only interruption in service may come around the time of the Homecoming Parade.)
“We will have about 10 trucks in attendance, many of which are operated or run by FIU alumni, parents or students,” said Roger Clegg, resident district manager for FIU Dining Services.
Among the food trucks that will arrive on campus Homecoming Saturday are:
Wrap it Up *
Frita Man
El Rey de la Paella *
Perros Express
Papas Tapas
Pardo’s Grill Cafe *
Lemon Man *
Latin House Grill
Miami Angels Roasted Corn
Chamo’s on Wheels
* This food truck is operated or run by an FIU alumnus, parent or student.
My name is Paul with the Lemon Man. FIU Alumni, class of 96. We could use all the help we can get from FIU students, staff and Alumni (if I left anyone out, you too). Come check us out on Facebook. Don’t forget to look up the guys from El Rey de la Paella (the truck in this article). Come by and see us at the game.
