A resource fair is scheduled in Panther Square from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. where attendees can meet representatives from community groups like the Save Dade Hispanic AIDS Awareness Program and FIU units such as the Women’s Center, the Wellness Center and Counseling & Psychological Services.

The highlight of the day will be the presentation at 1:30 p.m. in the Mary Ann Wolfe Theatre of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) film The Stigma Stops with Me, featuring Dee Cruz, a woman who has lived with HIV for many years.

Listen to journalism professor Kate MacMillin talk about the film.

Check out part one of The Stigma Stops with Me below. Part two and three are also available online.

Cruz will be on hand to answer questions and tell her story immediately following the film.

SJMC faculty and students will interview audience members before and after the film to get their thoughts on AIDS and inform them on what FIU programming is doing to raise awareness.

In addition, an HIV testing van will be parked in front of Panther Square all day, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., offering free testing and information materials.
