FIU takes Shula Bowl X, becomes bowl-eligible


It was an exciting evening of blue-and-gold football at FIU Stadium Nov. 12 as FIU met FAU on Alfonso Field, with the Panthers scoring early and often to ultimately put a “W” on the scoreboard with a 41-7 victory over the Owls.

The Shula Bowl X win was FIU’s first in the rivalry game since 2005, and is the sixth of the season for the Panthers, making them bowl-eligible for the second year in a row.

The game marked the last home game for wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, quarterback Wes Carroll as well as several senior Panthers. Fans thank them in the video below:

Up next for the Panthers is an away game against ULM on Nov. 19.
