What do you enjoy most about your job?

That every day is different and working with my students and coworkers. I almost never have a bad day at work.

What do you think faculty/staff and students should know about your department? What about FIU – how is the university “Worlds Ahead”?

We plan many events from Diversity Day, World AIDS Day, the restaurant fairs and our Freshman Luau to lectures with Dan Rather and Common. I think FIU is Worlds Ahead because we have many diverse departments that we collaborate with to bring unique events and experiences to the students.

Where is your favorite spot on campus? Why?

The BBC Peace Pole area between Marine Science and the Wolfe University Center. I was part of its dedication and implementation. The area is very relaxing and spiritual, and students like to hang out under the trees, by the pond.

Family snapshot:

I have three birds…. I am the oldest of three sisters and I am getting married in April. I am lucky that my whole family lives close to me.

Word that best describes you: I am friendly and positive.

First paying job: I worked in my father’s office in high school assisting patients and making them appointments.

Favorite TV show: Oprah, Brothers & Sisters and Entourage. Unfortunately, all of these shows have now been cancelled.

Pop music and Neil Diamond.

Read any good books lately?

A lot of books about wedding planning.

Your proudest accomplishment:

Just personal challenges I have had to overcome.

What do you do when you are not working at FIU?

I love to travel to California and visit wineries, as well as Boston and Key West. I also like to spend time with my friends and family.
