Approximately 300 FIU Greeks participated in the 21st annual Rock-a-Thon hosted by Phi Sigma Sigma Feb. 17 in the GC Pit at Modesto A. Maidique Campus.
The event was a philanthropic effort to raise money for the National Kidney Foundation and the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation while having fun. Each organization made a $100 donation and provided a decorated rocking chair for participants to take turns, uh…well, rockin’ on ’em while listening to music and chatting with friends. (The rocking chairs are a nod to the kidney disease patients who use them to ease their pain.)
The 12-hour event began at 9 a.m. and as you can see from this photo, it was a great success. Among the sororities who turned out for the Rock-a-Thon were Alpha Omicron Pi, Phi Mu and Delta Phi Epsilon. Fraternities in attendance included Sigma Phi Epsilon, Phi Sigma Kappa, Beta Theta Pi, Sigma Chi and Pi Kappa Phi.
