Budget forum to be held March 29

FIU is having this year’s first budget town hall meeting to discuss the 2012-13 fiscal year on Thursday, March 29.

President Mark B. Rosenberg will be answering questions about the budget at the March 29 forum.

The meeting, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in the Marc Pavilion at Modesto A. Maidique Campus, will address the latest budget dynamics and options for the next two academic years. The discussion will be broadcast live on the Internet.

If you are not able to make it in person, you may tune in from a computer anywhere. To view the webcast, visit webcast.fiu.edu.

If your department has a Polycom Bridge, you can tune in as a group. To set up the videoconferencing connection, contact UTS Media Services at 305-348-2815 or via email at mediaeqp@fiu.edu.

During the meeting, President Mark B. Rosenberg will take questions from the audience as well as via email.  You may submit your questions to presmail@fiu.edu during the event. Be sure to include your name and department in your message and make the subject line “Budget.”

In a letter to the university community March 19, the president said the 2012-13 budget contains a $24.3 million cut to the university operating budget. FIU did receive funding for the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, which is central to securing full accreditation in 2013.
