In a nutshell: I teach physics and conduct research in experimental nuclear physics.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Working in international collaborations with physicists from all continents, except Antarctica. I still haven’t met a penguin with a degree in physics.

Where is your favorite spot on campus? Why?

The lake between the OE building and the Green Library. You can watch turtles and spot the occasional anhinga.

I have two parents, two sisters and three nephews.

First paying job: I delivered newspapers.

I don’t have an iPod.

Getting my Ph.D. in physics from Technische Universität München in 1995.

What do you do when you are not working at FIU?

I bicycle, sail and do laundry.
