Women’s basketball begins post-season play March 15

Women’s hoops is set for post-season play. FIU will host Stetson in the opening round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) on Thursday, March 15, at U.S. Century Bank Arena. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.

WNIT is an annual tournament involving 64 of the nation’s top women’s Division I basketball teams. All games, including the semifinals and championship, are hosted by participating schools. Every round is single elimination.

Tickets for Thursday’s game can be purchased by logging on to FIUSports.com, calling 305-FIU-GAME or by visiting the University Credit Union Box Office located at the R. Kirk Landon Field House at FIU Stadium.

FIU students will be provided free admission courtesy of  FIU Athletics when showing their FIU ONE card. All other pricing is as follows:

• Courtside – $25
• Public Reserved – $7
• Youth/Senior Reserved – $5

The WNIT is celebrating its 15th season and has selected one of its most competitive fields in tournament history featuring 36 teams with 20 or more wins this season. The Panthers are making their sixth tournament appearance in program history.

FIU finished regular play with its first 20-win season in 10 years and advanced to the Sun Belt Championship semifinal, falling to top-seed Middle Tennessee.
