FIU to recognize leaders in public health, social work and dietetics


The Path Awards recognizes individuals in public health, social work and dietetics for their contributions and commitment to promoting and protecting the health of the South Florida community.  The awards also serve to raise the community’s awareness and understanding of the contributions made by public health, social work and dietetics professionals.

The 2012 Path Awards recipients, their organizations and their respective categories are: Max Rothman, Alliance for the Aging, Inc, Health Policy and Management; Kathryn Abbate, Miami Beach Community Health Center, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention; Gouyan Zhang, Miami-Dade County Health Department, Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance; Darlene Moppert, Broward County Public Schools, Dietetics and Nutrition; Trevor Coke, Miami-Dade County Health Department, Environmental and Occupational Health; Matthew He, Nova Southeastern University, Biostatistics; Stephanie Rakofsky, South Miami Hospital and Baptist Health South Florida, Social Work and Katy Sorenson, The Good Government Initiative, Robert Stempel Award.

FIU’s Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work is committed to recognizing outstanding South Floridians who are working to improve and maintain the health of the community.  The awards are intended to recognize community contributions and achievements of the recipients.

The event will be held on April 18, from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Graham Center Ballrooms.
