Blown away

Neighbors and members of the FIU family turned out at the Engineering Center May 5 for tours and demonstrations of the Wall of Wind (WoW), a unique facility capable of simulating a category 5 hurricane. Participants were impressed with the power and size of the 12-fan structure.

Research conducted at the WoW has resulted in changes to building codes, making structures safer and helping to save lives.
