FIU undergraduate international business program ranks 8th in ‘Bloomberg Businessweek’ specialty list

Florida International University’s undergraduate program in international business has been ranked eighth in the nation in the 2012 Bloomberg Businessweek specialty rankings, a significant climb for one of the College of Business Administration’s signature programs.

“International business is one of our four strategic areas of focus, which makes this recognition particularly gratifying for us,” said College of Business Executive Dean Joyce J. Elam. “It is one way to confirm that our efforts at the undergraduate level continue to move in the right direction.”

The Landon Undergraduate School of Business ranked in the top 25 in four specialty areas: 11th in operations management, 17th in sustainability, 20th in information systems and 25th in marketing. FIU’s undergraduate business school was in the top 100 in all specialties, including two other strategic areas for the college: entrepreneurship and financial services.

In March 2012, the undergraduate school ranked 109th overall in the Bloomberg Businessweek rankings. It was the sixth time in seven years that the college was included in the publication’s “Best Undergrad B-Schools” survey. Bloomberg Businessweek evaluates 14 academic disciplines as part of its specialty rankings. The rankings are based on surveys completed by 85,000 students.

“Our position in the top 100 in each category is a tribute to our faculty members who work tirelessly to deliver engaging, relevant and high-quality courses, and to the staff members who support them,” Elam said. “It’s affirming to hear from our students that we are giving them the preparation that they need to succeed.”
