FIU Alumni Association hosts 10th Annual FIU Scholarship Fishing Tournament

The FIU Alumni Association will host the 10th Annual FIU Scholarship Fishing Tournament, a one-day offshore tournament featuring fishing for dolphin.

Sponsored by TotalBank, the tournament’s net proceeds will benefit the FIU Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, which includes the Legacy Scholarship, awarded to students whose parents, grandparents or siblings are graduates of the university, and the Panther Pride Scholarship, awarded to students demonstrating outstanding involvement in campus life and activities.

The tournament is for dolphin; however, prizes are also given for the biggest fun fish, which include wahoo, tuna or kingfish. Other prize categories include: Junior Angler, Ladies Dolphin, Largest Dolphin, and Most Aggregate Weight. The event is open to the public.

Led by a volunteer board of directors, the FIU Alumni Association serves the community by providing a lifelong connection between the university and alumni, students, family, and friends. It provides opportunities for the community to support FIU’s key strategic initiatives, which includes the revitalization and expansion of financial resources, achieving academic excellence, enhancing research and creative initiatives, and engaging the FIU community.

The FIU Scholarship Fishing Tournament will leave the Miami Beach Marina (300 Alton Road, Miami Beach), at 7 a.m., on Saturday, June 16.

A post-tournament dock party to celebrate tournament and scholarship winners will be held at approximately 3 p.m., after the weigh-in at Monty’s South Beach.

For more information, visit the FIU Scholarship Fishing Tournament website or contact Paulina Munoz at 305-348-4486 to register. Fishing boat entries are available for $400 and include entry for up to four anglers.
