Classes at Strategic Language Institute start July 16

The FIU Strategic Language Institute (SLI) will open its doors this month to students, working professionals and members of the community interested in expanding their linguistic skills and cultural horizons.

As part of the School of International and Public Affairs, the institute offers high-quality instruction in strategic languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese and Russian.

The language programs are designed for individuals who would like to accelerate their career goals, but have never studied the language or have little training. Class sizes are limited, offering students greater opportunity for interactions with their peers and professors, according to Luis Sanchez, director of the Strategic Language Institute.

The non-credit classes are offered during evening hours at the FIU Downtown on Brickell location. Classes for Arabic and Chinese start July 16.
