University leaders participated in a traditional “photo op” Wednesday, July 11, commemorating the official groundbreaking of FIU’s Academic Health Center 5 building. The building will be the new home of the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work, the Extreme Events Institute and the Department of Earth and Environment from the College of Arts & Sciences. The building will house research space, including food science and behavioral labs, as well as classrooms, conference rooms and faculty offices. It is expected to be completed by December 2013.
