Stempel dean named one of ‘100 Awesome Deans of Public Health’

Congratulations go out to Michele Ciccazzo, interim dean of the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work, on being named one of MPHProgramsList.com’s 100 Awesome Deans of Public Health.

Ciccazzo ranked 48th in the list and was one of five deans from the state of Florida recognized with the distinction.

“The criteria for our list [were] based on the reputation of the institution along with the personal achievements of each dean,” the site says. “Whether #1 or #100, these deans are all fantastic.”

The kudos, says Provost Douglas Wartzok, will allow students who are considering a degree in public health to learn more about the caliber of leadership in different public health programs.

“This national ranking is a highly visible seal of quality,” he said.

Ciccazzo, a registered dietitian, is an associate professor in the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition at FIU. She has more than 25 years of experience in higher education and almost 15 years in administrative assignments at FIU, where she also has served as interim vice provost for Academic Affairs and chair of Dietetics and Nutrition.
