President Mark B. Rosenberg sent the following message to students on Aug. 20, 2012:
Dear FIU Students,
Welcome to another exciting academic year! Thank you for choosing to be a part of the Panther family.
At FIU, every student counts. Your education is our top priority. Our faculty and staff are committed to your education and to making your FIU experience one that is Worlds Ahead. You will develop capabilities critical to your career success.
For our undergraduates, we also will provide you with the opportunity to graduate in four years with a bachelor’s degree that will help you get started on that exciting career as soon as possible. We are hard at work to strategically maximize your tuition dollars to provide a high quality education and help you graduate in a timely manner. As a result, this semester you will have access to more advisers, improved course tracking and academic major management capabilities.
As an FIU student, you will have incredible opportunities in and outside of the classroom to learn from professors who are leaders in their fields, to participate in groundbreaking research, to play a role in our efforts to find solutions to the most critical issues facing our community, and to make friends who will become your future colleagues.
This semester, gear up for many enriching opportunities at FIU that will foster your personal growth and development and help prepare you for your future career. From academics to student life, you have countless chances to engage with your Panther family and make this the best semester yet. Support your student athletes by attending a sporting event, give back to the local community, and join us for the Homecoming festivities the week of Oct. 7-13.
