The Aug. 5 episode of ABC’s “Secret Millionaire,” the feel-good show in which millionaires donate a portion of their own fortune to deserving “local heroes” in needy communities around the country, has a strong Panther connection.
An organization founded by former FIU student Jowharah Sanders is highlighted in the Aug. 5 show. National Voices for Equality, Education and Enlightenment (NVEEE) is a non-profit dedicated to preventing bullying, violence and suicide among youth, families and communities. In Sunday night’s episode, millionaire Marcus Lemonis learns more about NVEEE and Sanders, its executive director. Current FIU student Ruth Sanders is in the episode as well. (Ruth is Jowharah’s youngest sister.) While not appearing in the show, NVEEE Board of Director members William Lohman and Jessica Saiontz are both 2011 graduates of FIU’s College of Law.
The show will air at 8 p.m. on Sunday night.
