Beginning Monday, Aug. 20, FIU’s University Health Services will extend its hours of operation in order to better serve Panthers.
Students will be able to visit UHS Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Students who were not able to come during traditional office hours asked us to extend our hours,” said UHS director Dr. Oscar Loynaz. “So we started out by extending hours on Tuesday evenings. It was such a success that we made the decision to extend our hours all days of the week.
“Now, students are able to access our services at a time that is more convenient to them. We hope that students take advantage of these new hours.”
Students will be able to access all of UHS services during the new hours, from general medical to the women’s clinic to the Wellness Center and the pharmacy.
I don’t know about the “popular demand”. For the first time in my four years at FIU, I tried to seek the services provided at the UHS. I called the Women’s Health Center to make an appointment and I was asked to leave a voice mail with my name, panther ID, and call back number. Never received a call back. Called back the next day, Friday, and I asked if they had any appointments and let them know I had called the day before and was simply replied with a rude answer. So much for that “health fee”.
Friendly reminder, we are open late to serve your student health needs! Mon-Thurs 8 AM-6:30 PM, Fri 8:00 AM-5 PM. http://t.co/wnXO7lDw
