1. Best of the best
Do you have what it takes to represent the university as a student ambassador? The Office of Alumni Relations is accepting applications until noon on Monday, Sept. 17.

2. All the world’s a stage
Songs for a New World, an FIU Theatre musical starring Ashley Capo, Julio Liverpool, Jose Contreras, Caitlyn Lincoln and Amber Benson, opens Friday, Sept. 21. The show runs for two weeks at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center’s Black Box Theatre.

3. A new year in September
Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, is the first of the High Holy Days, and begins at sunset on Sept. 16. The holiday celebration includes sounding the shofar, a horn, and eating symbolic foods such as apples and honey.

4. Panther soccer scores big
Chelsea Leiva and Johanna Volz swept the Sun Belt Conference’s Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week honors, while the men remain undefeated after five games.

5. You don’t have to study for this test
University Health Services offers free HIV testing at the BBC Wellness Center on Tuesdays or by appointment and at MMC Wellness Center during its hours of operation.
