5 things to know for Monday

1. National Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations
This national event celebrates the history, cultures and contributions of Americans of Hispanic descent, including those from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Find out more about the celebration at kick-off events on Monday, Sept. 24 (BBC) and Tuesday, Sept. 25 (MMC).

2. Parlez-vous français?
Did you know that FIU offers more than 25 study abroad programs ranging in length from 10 days to six weeks? Find out more about these opportunities, financial aid and the application process on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m., in PC 113 at MMC.

3. Day at the museum
Smithsonian magazine’s annual Museum Day Live! offers free admission to participating museums around the country on Saturday, Sept. 29. Register online for your free ticket (admits two), print it out, and head to a participating museum, including FIU’s Frost Art Museum and The Wolfsonian-FIU.

4. Add some spice to your life
Miami Spice is coming to an end, so visit one of the over 150 participating restaurants before Sept. 30 for lunch or dinner deals. For a taste of fall closer to home, the Pumpkin Spice Latte is back at all Starbucks locations, including those at MMC and BBC.

5. Evening eats
Many campus eateries are open until 8 or 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday: Bustelo, Chili’s Too, Fresh Food Company, Jamba Juice, Pollo Tropical and Subway in the Graham Center at MMC; Starbucks and Express at the Green Library;the  Tropical Smoothie Café; PG5 Market Station (except for Dunkin’ Donuts); and Moe’s SouthWest Grill at BBC.
