Learn how to get funded at Sept. 12 Entrepreneur Empowerment Workshop

In the current economic environment, funding a small business is one of the biggest challenges an entrepreneur can face. This Wednesday, Sept. 12, FIU’s Pino Global Entrepreneurship Center and SCORE Miami-Dade will share tools for success at Funding Your Growing Business, the first of the six-session Entrepreneurship Empowerment Workshop series. The workshop will take place 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Partners for Self-Employment, Chesterfield Smith Center for Equal Justice Building, 3000 Biscayne Blvd., Suite 215A, in Miami.

The speaker is Joan Freilich, SCORE counselor and former CFO of Consolidated Edison of New York, one of the nation’s largest utilities. Freilich, who has worked with small businesses as well as major banks, will share her insights into the single most important step to take when you’re looking for a loan, what banks and other lenders look for when evaluating small businesses, the best and worst sources of funding for each business stage, as well as pitfalls to avoid in the funding process. It’s a unique opportunity to gain insight into the essentials of funding start-ups from a top-level financial professional.

The cost of Wednesday’s three-hour workshop is $50, and includes coffee and a light breakfast. Click here to learn more information about the series or to register, or call 305-348-7156.
