Renowned architect Monica Vazquez to speak in lecture series

Monica Vazquez ’98, MArch ’00 is an associate architect for the award-winning firm Rene Gonzalez Architect, Inc. Before joining the firm and working on significant projects like the Museum of Contemporary Art, she was a student at FIU, president of the Architecture Graduate Student Association, and a member of both the Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key National Honor Societies.

As part of the FIU School of Architecture Lecture Series, Vazquez has been invited to speak about her experiences in the design of museum and gallery spaces, exhibition design, hospitality, retail and residential projects. She will discuss her approach, which is holistic and strives to shift the perception of space and design, and evoke powerful emotions within the space. Vazquez will also give her perspective on the path from student to architect in Miami through the projects she has designed and built.

The lecture will take place on October 25, 2012, at 5 p.m. in PCA 135. For more information, please call 305-348-7500.
