FIU.edu redesign, Part 3: Preparing you for launch

The launch date for the new FIU homepage is imminent. Months of research and work have gone into the final product that the Web Communications team will unveil soon. They prepared this post to prepare the FIU web community for the changes ahead.

“Our focus for this redesign was to become even more student-focused and create a new presence from the experience since the previous redesign. We also wanted to show the vibrant FIU experience through great messaging, photography and videos,” said Matt Herzberger, director of Web Communications. The site was created by the Web Communications team in the Division of External Relations.

About the site
The institution’s web page is FIU’s calling card – a unique opportunity to make a first impression. The new website communicates clearly through its clean design, strategic messaging and vibrant use of images and color. This shift in focus is based on research, including user testing, sites feedback and peer-site reviews. We are committed to working with everyone to make the FIU web presence something of which we can all be very proud.

How can I find my page?
Everything that was on the previous design is still available on the new site in some form or another. The main navigation is still along the top and the audience navigation remains on the homepage. Many of the common utilities used on campus are still available under “tools” at the top of the page, just under the navigation.

How do I get on the home page?
The Division of External Relations manages all content on the FIU.edu site, ensuring consistency of FIU brand usage as well as telling the FIU story. Changes and suggestions for items that should appear on the homepage can be sent to External Relations. Space on the homepage is limited and priorities are based on the size of the intended audience and support of university goals. External Relations retains the right to approve or deny any request for content to be placed on the homepage.

The following are a few suggested methods for including content on the homepage.

Where do I report any errors, edits, feedback or changes?
We value your feedback. If you find changes that need to be made or just want to let us know what you think, feel free to use our Website Feedback Form found on the tab along the left side of each page.
