5 things to know for Monday

1. Fall back for fall
Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, Nov. 4, so don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour. Observance of Daylight Savings is optional, but most U.S. states participate; notable exceptions are Arizona and Hawaii.

2. Election Day
Get your voice heard and cast your vote on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Don’t know where to go? Find your polling place or precinct online (Miami-Dade | Broward) before Tuesday.

3. Drowning in deals
Take advantage of great deals and giveaways at various retail and dining locations on campus Tuesday-Thursday, Nov. 6-8. Keep an eye out for deals on Facebook and at shop.fiu.edu.

4. Who you know is as important as what you know
Networking is a valuable professional skill, and mastering it takes practice. Come to the Academic Advising Center’s Networking 101 workshop on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 3:30 p.m. in GC 314 (MMC) and learn how you can begin building your network while still in school.

5. Calling all spirited Panthers
Do you love FIU? Become a Peer Advisor or Panther Camp facilitator for the 2013 school year. Check out one of the mandatory information sessions (available Nov. 5,6 and 7) and download an application at orientation.fiu.edu. The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 9.
