The 13th annual Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by Food & Wine is less than a month away – Feb. 21-24. Here is a sampling of the events that make this Festival, which is powered by more than 1,000 student volunteers from the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, so special.

baseball eventCreekstone Farms presents Delta Diamond Dishes: A League of Their Own will showcase the culinary talents of the top female chefs in the country. The event, which runs from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, takes place on the field at Marlins Park and will feature a chef station at each base. The Food Network’s Anne Burrell will serve as co-host of the evening. The all-star lineup of chefs:

  • Michy’s Michelle Bernstein (James Beard award winner)
  • Girl and the Goat’s Stephanie Izard (Food & Wine Best New Chef)
  • The Spotted Pig’s April Bloomfield (Food & Wine Best New Chef)
  • BEAST’s Naomi Pomeroy (Food & Wine Best New Chef)
  • Jeni Britton Bauer (James Beard award winner)

Delta will be giving away four all-inclusive vacations as part of a silent auction at each base. Attendees will be able to bid on trips to London, South America, Chicago and Seattle as they make their way around the field.

Net proceeds from ticket sales for this event will support the efforts of the Mayor’s Fund for NYC Hurricane Relief and the hunger relief efforts of the Food Bank For New York City, which are providing short – and long-term assistance to those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Grand TastingWhole Foods Market Grand Tasting Village on Sunday, Feb. 24, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., features 45-minute demonstrations by Food Network & Cooking Channel chefs, authors and culinary personalities. Afterward, attendees are invited to chat with the presenters and stop by the Food Network Book Signing Tents where the stars will be signing copies of their latest cookbooks. This year, for the first time, Trisha Yearwood will participate (Green Stage from 3:15 to 4 p.m.) and Jose Andres will conduct a Festival KitchenAid culinary demonstration entirely in Spanish (Blue Stage from 4:15 to 5 p.m.).

From 1 to 5 p.m., guests are invited to sample cuisine, wines and spirits under the MasterCard® Grand Tasting Tents on the beach at the Whole Foods Market Grand Tasting Village. Attendees will be able to text in their favorite dishes to vote for the first annual Miami New Times’ “Short Order’s Best Bite on the Beach” award.

SOBEWFF Fun and FitFlorida Blue presents Fun and Fit as a Family sponsored by Carnival featuring Kellogg’s Kidz Kitchen on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23-24, at Jungle Island, will offer two days of fun for foodies of all ages. This family-friendly event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, encourages children to explore the food garden, play sports on the beach, get their hands messy in the interactive kitchen and explore the animals of Jungle Island while learning the basics of preparing nutritious meals and having fun doing it. Participating Food Network chefs include Giada De Laurentiis, Rocco DiSpirito, Sunny Anderson, Hedy Goldsmith and more.
