Several Panthers were on hand to welcome freshman U.S. Rep. Joe Garcia to Washington, D.C. The 113th U.S. Congress convened Jan. 3, and South Florida’s Garcia will represent the state’s newly drawn 26th Congressional District, which includes the Florida Keys and southwest Miami-Dade County. Florida’s first Democratic congressman of Hispanic descent, he will sit on the House Judiciary Committee.
