FIU women’s tennis begins the 2013 spring season, hosting Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the FIU Tennis Courts. The match is slated to begin with doubles action at 1 p.m.
A new era in FIU women’s tennis starts in 2013 as first-year Head Coach Katarina Petrovic looks to guide the Panthers back to the top of the Sun Belt Conference. FIU, which returns four letter-winners from last year’s squad, is aiming for its sixth league title over the past nine years.
Petrovic was named FIU head tennis coach on Sept. 12 after spending nine seasons at the University of South Carolina. She joined the Gamecock coaching staff in Sept. 2004 following her role as sports manager for the Michael-Ann Russell Community Center based in North Miami Beach. Petrovic was last interim head coach for the Gamecocks during the spring of 2012, after serving as Associate Head Coach since 2009. She began her tenure at USC as the women’s tennis program’s assistant coach for her first five seasons.
