5 things to know for Monday

1.  Women rock

International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world, and FIU is no exception. Come to Panther Square (BBC) on Monday, March 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to kick off a week of events empowering and celebrating women. The kick-off event features performances, food and a relaxation session.

Sweat for a good cause on Wednesday, March 6, from 5:30-8 p.m. at the FIU Recreation Center (MMC). The Pre-spring Break Fitness-a-Thon will benefit Forever Friends Animal Rescue, through a $10 minimum donation. Enjoy two and a half hours packed with fun and energetic classes led by your favorite instructors.

3.  Get happy
Kick off your weekend at the Wolfsonian-FIU Very Happy Happy Hour every Friday evening. Enjoy free gallery admission from 6 p.m. to closing, a free guided tour at 6 p.m., and café deals all evening.    

4. Put your plan to the test
The deadline is fast approaching for the annual Miami Herald Business Plan Challenge, presented by FIU Business and the Pino Global Entrepreneurship Center. Get your entry in by March 11. Students and alumni are eligible to enter on the FIU Track. 

5. Ready, set, govern
The Florida Legislature opens a new 60-day session on Tuesday, March 5, with education as a key issue. Keep up with FIU’s governmental relations team on Facebook or Twitter.
