Sand volleyball opens inaugural home season with double-dual sweep


Sand volleyball kicked off its inaugural home season on Saturday, as the Panthers swept Webber International in a double dual at the FIU Sand Courts, defeating the Warriors by 4-1 scores in both contests. With the pair of wins, FIU improves to 3-3 in dual matches (1-0 Tournament).

Prior to beginning play, President Mark B. Rosenberg, Executive Director of Sports/Entertainment Pete Garcia, and Senior Associate Athletic Director/SWA Julie Berg were on hand for a special ceremony, held to commemorate the inaugural season of FIU sand volleyball.

FIU will return to action this weekend when the Panthers host the FIU Surf and Turf Tournament, held March 29-31. Matches on days one and three will take place at the FIU Sand Courts while competition on day two (Saturday, March 30) will be held at Fort Lauderdale on South Beach Park (1098 Seabreeze Blvd, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.). First serve is set for 9 a.m. on all three days.
