Jorge L. Arrizurieta reappointed to FIU Board of Trustees


The Florida Board of Governors has reappointed Jorge L. Arrizurieta to the Florida International University Board of Trustees.

Arrizurieta is chairman and CEO of Arrizurieta & Associates. He was originally appointed to the FIU Board of Trustees in June of 2007 and now reappointed for a term that ends in January 6, 2018. Arrizurieta is a former member of the Board of Governors, and has promoted Florida internationally during his time as president and CEO of the Florida Free Trade Area of the Americas (Florida FTAA), a public private partnership led by Governor Jeb Bush. Arrizurieta has had an extensive career in both the private and public sector in many roles including an appointment by President George W. Bush to serve as the U.S. Alternative Executive Director at the Inter-American Development Bank, over 10 years of service to South Florida entrepreneur H. Wayne Huizenga where he served as a senior executive in various capacities at the Florida Marlins and Huizenga Holdings and years of service to U.S. Senator Connie Mack where he served as a senior advisor.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Arrizurieta has volunteered his time to many charitable and civic organizations throughout the years such as the Orange Bowl Committee, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Beacon Council, among others. Arrizurieta also served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and was a trustee of the Miami-Dade County Public Health Trust where he served for six years and completed his service there as the board’s vice chairman.

Arrizurieta’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
