From relationships to religious ethics, fathers to feminists, FIU faculty members published books on a diverse array of topics in 2012-2013.
Many of those authors gathered Thursday, April 4, for a reception at Barnes & Noble Bookstore at Modesto A. Maidique Campus.
For School of Accounting Associate Professor Antoinette Smith, the event helped reinforce the notion that her voice is being heard beyond the confines of the classroom.
“It means I’m touching the world in more ways than one,” says the author of You’re More Than What Meets The Eye: The Independent Woman’s Guide to Becoming Wifely Material.
David Twigg, a first-time author and director of the Jack D. Gordon Institute of Public Policy and Citizenship Studies, said he enjoyed the interdisciplinary nature of the reception. His book, The Politics of Disaster: Tracking the Impact of Hurricane Andrew, was published in 2012.
The sidebar to the right contains a list of faculty-authored books that have been published since January 2013.
Most of these new titles — as well as other faculty-authored books — can be found on the FIU Campus Authors shelves at the university bookstores.
