“Changing the world, one break at a time,” is the mission of alternative Breaks, FIU’s largest, year-round, service-learning program offered by Student Affairs’ Center for Leadership and Service.
This spring break, five groups traveled to Nicaragua, the second-poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, to work on improving the lives of Nicaraguans by working on issues that ranged from health advocacy to reforestation.
