Parking at MMC this weekend

Dear members of the university community:

To accommodate the unusually high traffic of students moving into MMC housing this fall and guests attending Freshman Convocation this weekend, please take note of the following changes.

Housing Move In
The Department of Parking and Transportation along with the Department of Housing and Residential Life will close five campus parking lots. On Thursday August 22nd, 2013, all vehicles must be removed by 6:00 p.m. from the following parking lots:

  • Parking Lot 6 (south of Housing)
  • Parking Lot 7 (west of the Football Stadium)
  • Parking Lot 8 (adjacent to the Recreation Center)
  • Parking Lot 12x (north of Panther Hall Parking)
  • Parking Lot 13 (adjacent to Towers Housing Parking)

For a campus map, click here. The lots will reopen on Monday, August 26, 2013 with the start of the semester.

Alternate parking at MMC during the parking lot closure will be available at the Blue Parking Garage, Gold Parking Garage and Panther Garage, which will remain open over the weekend. Additional parking will also be available in Lot 5 (adjacent to the Wertheim Performing Arts Center), Lot 9 (adjacent to the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Education Building) and Lot 10 (behind the US Century Bank Arena).

Freshman Convocation
Also, note that Freshman Convocation will take place at the U.S. Century Bank Arena from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 25th, 2013. That day only, the Panther Garage and Lot 10 will be used exclusively for Freshman Convocation guests. Additionally, from 7 a.m. to 8p.m., the road in front of the U.S. Century Bank arena ( S.W. 113 Ave.) will be closed.
