Moss & Associates constructed the $45-million project that broke ground in early June of last year.

“Parkview Hall is an extension of the classroom where students may gather, share ideas and interact in state-of-the-art amenities and community spaces,” said FIU Vice President for Student Affairs Larry Lunsford. “As FIU continues to grow, additions like Parkview are vital to accommodating students and cultivating a scholarly community inside and outside the classroom.”

Parkview includes community lounges, a multipurpose room, and additional areas to accommodate residential life programs and activities. Designed by HADP Architecture, Inc. and HKS Architects, it features new urbanism concepts and a pedestrian street linking the housing complexes with covered walkways, outdoor seating areas, green spaces, retail areas, and other amenities.

“This was exciting and innovative addition to our growing array of campus residence halls,” said Philip Tunnicliff, project manager for Moss. “It took terrific teamwork and preparation to finish such an ambitious project in just over a year, and everyone was able to bring it in on time and under budget without cutting corners.”

Parkview will also serve as a hurricane evacuation center for the FIU resident student population, and meets building occupancy standards for a Category 5 hurricane.

The Parkview Housing address is 1599 SW 113 Ave., Miami, FL, 33174.
