The week of Oct. 6-12 is Homecoming Week and the Alumni Association will be hosting various events in an effort to make sure all Panthers can be a part of this week of celebration.

Greek Alumni Reunion

FIU’s Greek alumni will kick-off Homecoming Week with the Greek Alumni Reunion on Friday, Oct. 4. This Alumni Association sponsored event has quickly become an FIU tradition and gives all Greek alumni the opportunity to catch up with old friends, as well as enjoy food, drinks and special entertainment. The event will begin at 7 p.m. at Cafeina in Wynwood. Learn more at FIUalumni.com/greek.

Paul D. Gallagher’s Celebration of Life

It is no secret that earlier this year, FIU lost one of its great leaders. On Friday, Oct. 11, there will be a university-wide celebration in honor of Paul D. Gallagher. Don’t miss the opportunity to commemorate and honor one of the men responsible for helping elevate FIU to its current respected standing. The event will take place in the GC ballrooms and will begin at 1:30 p.m. Guests can register online by clicking here.

Silver Pride Reunion

In honor of the 25th anniversary of the class of 1988, the Alumni Association will be hosting a number of special events. Between Friday, Oct. 11, and Saturday, Oct. 12, there will be many different photo opportunities, tours and meet and greets that will help bring back some great memories, as well as show how far the university has come. Those who attend the Silver Pride Reunion will also be able to attend the Roar Lounge, the official alumni pre-game party, as well as the FIU vs. University of Alabama Homecoming game. Learn more at FIUalumni.com/SilverPride.

Homecoming Parade & Tailgate

Come out and show your FIU pride with fellow alumni, current students, faculty and staff as they make their way from lot 9 to Tamiami park and the tailgate area. A number of floats, brigades and performers will be featured. If you are interested in reserving a spot in the tailgate area, please contact the Parking & Transportation department.

FIU vs. University of Alabama at Birmingham

This is what the entire week has been leading up to. Support the Panthers as they take on the University of Alabama at 7:30 p.m. The parade winners will be announced during the halftime break as well as the Homecoming court king and queen. Buy your football tickets at FIUsports.com.

FIU Chamber Player Series: The Early Romantics

If you’re looking for a more classic form of entertainment, the School of Music will be sponsoring an event of its own.  On Saturday, October 12 at 7:30 p.m., FIU’s Chamber will give faculty performers a chance to shine with a performance centering on the early romantics. Performances will include renowned FIU violinist Robert Davidovici, Maestro Grezegorz Nowak and the FIU Symphony Orchestra interpreting Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D Major, Mendelssohn’s Violin in E minor, and Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri Overture. Tickets are $15. Learn more at carta.fiu.edu.
