To kick off its “A Conversation with” series, Florida International University’s Latin American and Caribbean Center (LACC) is hosting a panel discussion on U.S.-Venezuela relations.

The discussion will focus on the current state of the relationship between the two countries and the possibility of President Barack Obama and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, rebuilding diplomatic ties.

The panel will feature U.S. Ambassador Patrick Duddy, former U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela, who was expelled by President Hugo Chavez in 2008 and Javier Corrales, a professor of political science in Amherst College, who has published numerous works on Venezuelan politics.

The discussion will be moderated by Frank Mora, director of the Latin American and Caribbean Center at FIU, and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Western Hemisphere.

The event  will take place  on Thursday Sept. 26, 2013 at 6 p.m. at  FIU’s College of Business Complex (CBC) Room 232 on the Modesto Madique Campus,  11200 SW 8th St.
