FIU presents the 2013 Geopolitical Summit: “America at the Crossroads”


Florida International University presents the 2013 Geopolitical Summit, America at the Crossroads: Power and Strategy in U.S. Foreign Relations, that will bring together some of the nation’s top sociopolitical experts to discuss American foreign policy and shifting global power.

The daylong forum will include two sessions with featured speakers:

  • Moisés Naím, a senior associate in the International Economics Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, will speak about “The End of Power: From Boardrooms to Battlefields and Churches to States.”
  • Vali Nasr, Dean and Professor of International Relations at Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, will speak about “The Dispensable Nation: American Foreign Policy in Retreat.”

The lectures will be followed by panel discussions with FIU’s leading scholars. For a list of panelists please click here.

The event will take place on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 9 – 11:30 a.m. for the morning panel with Moisés Naím, and 1:30 – 4 p.m.   for the afternoon panel with Vali Nasr.
