Homecoming Day filled with exciting activities for university community

Homecoming Day 2013 is finally upon us.

There is something for everyone as students, faculty, staff and alumni celebrate FIU pride, spirit and unity during the university’s annual Homecoming celebration.

The following is a full list of the festivities that will take place on Oct. 12 as Homecoming week comes to an exciting finish:

Parent Family Breakfast

Graham Center Ballrooms – 10:30 a.m.

Hosted by the Office of Orientation and Parent Programs, students and their families can celebrate Homecoming with a filling breakfast to prepare for a day filled with celebration and fun.

FIU Retiree Reunion Homecoming Reception

Parkview Residence Hall (East)– 2 p.m.

Hosted by President and Mrs. Mark B. Rosenberg, the Retiree Reunion welcomes all FIU Retirees to a special reception in to honor them and their contributions to the university and their community. Homecoming Day Parade

Parade Starts at Lot 9 and ends in Tamiami Park – 3 p.m.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Danny Pino and his wife Lilly, both FIU alumni, will be serving as Grand Marshal alongside fellow FIU students, alumni, faculty, staff and members of the community as the university showcases its FIU pride, spirit and unity. This year’s Homecoming Parade will feature various FIU organizations, floats, performers, marching bands, dancers and more.

Homecoming Game Tailgate

Lot 6 (East of FIU Stadium) – 6 p.m.

Whether you enjoy delicious food, free prizes, or just hanging out with friends and family before the game, don’t miss out on the pre-game tailgate to get ready for one of the biggest games of the season for FIU football this year.

Homecoming Game – FIU vs. University of Alabama at Birmingham

Alfonso Field at FIU Stadium – 7:30 p.m.

The FIU football team will look to remain unbeaten in Conference USA play against the UAB Blazers at FIU Stadium. Tickets for the game can be purchased at FIUSports.com or by calling 305-FIU-GAME. Students can attend all home games for free with their student I.D.
