President Mark B. Rosenberg sent the following message to the FIU community on November 15, 2013:
Dear FIU Family:
Special visitors will be on the Modesto A. Maidique Campus next week and we want you to know about it! Our FIU is hosting one of the most important-ever gatherings of Florida university leaders on Wednesday, November 20, and Thursday, November 21. These individuals are members of the statewide Board of Governors, who guide the management of our State University System. They will be joined by members of our Board of Trustees and the Boards of Trustees of our 11 sister state universities, who will be here to meet with the President of the University of North Carolina system, Tom Ross. For many of these guests it will be their first and perhaps only visit to FIU.
We know that our visitors will be impressed when they set foot on campus because we know that you will treat them like family. Show your Panther pride on both Wednesday and Thursday by wearing your Blue and Gold FIU gear. Make sure they know what it means to be Worlds Ahead by letting them know how happy you are that they have chosen our campus to hold their most important meetings ever. And if you have an opportunity thank them for their service to our state and for all that they are doing to ensure that you can get a high-quality university education—one that will enable you to realize your dreams and aspirations. If you are interested in attending any of the formal BOG meetings on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning, here is the schedule.
The beauty of our two campuses and the energy of our students, faculty and staff ensure that we are a destination for many visitors wanting to know more about FIU. We can assure you that this visit ranks as one of the most important that we have ever hosted, and we know that we can count on each and every one of you to help make it unforgettable for these Florida leaders who will be with us.
