Welcome to Spring 2014 at FIU! In an effort to reduce the traffic and parking congestion, FIU’s Office of Parking and Transportation will implement several temporary changes from Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 10, 2014. Please take note so that you can plan your commute accordingly.
Modesto A. Maidique Campus and Engineering Center
TEMPORARY PARKING AREAS & EXPANDED SHUTTLE SERVICE
We will have 2,400 temporary parking spaces available for students, faculty and staff as “all decals” parking from Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10, 2014. Please see below for locations and details.
In addition to our existing Panther Mover service between the Charles Perry/Primera Casa building and Panther Garage, we will have pick-up and drop-off locations at the temporary parking areas at Tamiami Park, PG5 Overflow parking area and the Fair and Exposition Overflow between 8 and 10 a.m., and 4 and 6 p.m. (4 through 7p.m. only Tamiami), Monday through Friday.
Shuttle to and from Park and Ride at Engineering Center will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Our existing CATS bus service will continue to provide shuttle services to and from Engineering Center and facilitate access when additional shuttle is not operating. TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN
To move traffic in and out of campus as safely and efficiently as possible, there will be police officers and public safety technicians directing traffic at the intersections and inside campus. Please be courteous to pedestrians.
There will be additional entrances to MMC at:
- SW 107 Ave. and SW 19 St. (Fair and Exposition entrance)
- Coral Way and SW 112 Ave. (Tamiami Park entrance)
- SW 117 Ave. and SW 21 St. (east of the Florida Turnpike)
ADDITIONAL PARKING FOR HOUSING RESIDENTS
An additional 291 reserved parking spaces for residential students are available at the new Parkview Housing Garage. These spaces, available for an additional charge, are for current occupants of university housing only.

FIU has partnered with South Florida Commuter Services (SFCS) to expand the Carpool program on campus. Sign-up for free and obtain permits that will allow you to find closer parking. Sign up at www.Get2fiu.com.
Miami-Dade Transit
Student transit passes at a discount of 50 percent are available for purchase at the Parking Office at the beginning of each month. The transit hub located on SW 107 Ave. and 17 St. serves routes number 8, 11, 24 and 71. For more information, click here.
Sweetwater Trolley
The City of Sweetwater Trolley currently stops near the Graham Center providing additional connection from surrounding areas to both the Engineering and Modesto A. Maidique campuses. For more information on the City of Sweetwater Trolley, click here.
Utilizing any of these services makes you eligible to register for the Emergency Ride Home program via SFCS. For registration please access the carpool site.
Biscayne Bay Campus
TEMPORARY PARKING AREAS
Lot 1 is partially closed due to construction in the area. A temporary gravel lot has been set up on the south side of Lot 4 until the permanent replacement is completed. Any additional parking will be directed to the grass area between Lots 4 and 5.
Additionally, the east section of Lot 1 has been reconfigured, which will provide a new entrance and will also make a larger portion of loop road a one-way road. Please exercise caution when navigating this area.
