FIU’s College of Law graduates 10th class

This Friday, FIU’s College of Law will celebrate another milestone event: the graduation of its 10th class.

In 2002 at FIU, 67 men and women enrolled in a brand new law school that was not accredited by the American Bar Association. Today, FIU’s College of Law boasts an alumni membership that is more than 1,000 strong, and earlier this year the college was ranked in the top 100 in U.S. News & World Report’s best graduate schools list.

2013 FIU Law Commencement

“The 10th graduating class is a strong, unified group of students whose achievements range from arguing before the United States Court of Appeals, leading the National Conference of Law Reviews, and winning or placing in nearly one dozen national and international competitions,” said College of Law Dean R. Alexander Acosta. “For the first time our teams reached the final rounds of the Price International Competition hosted by Oxford University, the Ferrell Human Rights Competition and the American Bar Association’s National Negotiation Competition. They have made FIU Law very proud.”

The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the FIU Arena, located at 11200 S.W. 8 Street in FIU’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus in west Miami-Dade County. American Bar President-Elect Paulette Brown, the first African-American female to hold this position, will serve as commencement speaker. To view a live webcast of the ceremony, please click here
