Barry Rosen, Ph. D. named Distinguished Professor, FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine

Barry P. Rosen, Ph.D.
Associate Dean for Basic Research and Graduate Programs
Professor, Department of Cellular Biology and Pharmacology
New Title: Distinguished Professor

Rosen was recognized for his expertise and his seminal contributions to our understanding of the mechanisms of arsenic uptake, efflux and biotransformation in plants and animals, including humans.

He has had a remarkable record of achievement and research career. Rosen has received 40 years of continuous funding from NIH and NSF and was recognized as an NIH Merit Awardee. This is a significant accomplishment as less than 5 percent of NIH-funded investigators are so designated. Rosen has published more than 300 articles and books. Last year, FIU nominated him for the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement, and he is a current nominee to become a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
