A quick glance around campus this summer and it’s clear: the World Cup has finally arrived! And since the tournament began on June 12, the FIU community has been buzzing with excitement and pride.

Students, faculty and staff have gathered all over campus, wearing their national team jerseys and national colors, to cheer on their home countries.

Whether you are at MMC or BBC, you don’t need to venture off campus to watch games. And with the United States looking to survive the “Group of Death” with a win or draw against Germany on June 26 (kickoff is at noon), there is no better time to get in on the fun!

Here are six great places to watch the World Cup:

CHILI’S TOO – MMC

With a menu featuring a wide array of delicious items that include sandwiches, burgers, salads, fajitas and (of course) their famous baby back ribs along with more than a dozen HD televisions, Chili’s Too is the perfect place to grab a bite and watch matches from one of the most exciting World Cups in decades.

GRAHAM CENTER PIT – MMC

Located in the heart of the Graham Center, chairs have been set up in front of HD televisions to create a central and communal watching location. Whether you are fan of Colombia or South Korea, chances are you’ll find someone new with whom to cheer on your club!

WOLFE CENTER STUDENT LOUNGE – BBC

At BBC, students have been flocking to the second floor of the recently renovated Wolfe Center to take in this year’s exciting World Cup matches. With plenty of couches and lounge chairs available, it’s a great spot to sit back and watch the game in comfort!

GREEN LIBRARY, 1ST FLOOR – MMC

If you’re in the middle of studying and completing assignments in the Green Library, you can head downstairs and take a bit of a study break to watch the game! The library is broadcasting games on the television located on the first floor behind the stairs and escalators on the first floor. Once the final whistle blows, you can head right back upstairs and study in peace.

PORTER DAVIS GAME ROOM & WOLFE CENTER GAME ROOM – MMC & BBC

Both MMC and BBC have game rooms that provide a great spot to gather a few friends and watch the World Cup while playing billiards, ping pong or board games.

The Wolfe Center Game Room is located on the second floor in WUC 222 and has two 65.6-inch 3D high definition televisions and the Porter Davis Game Room, which has plenty of televisions to watch the game, is located next to Chili’s Too in the Graham Center.
