Rosario Dawson, Wilmer Valderrama and Voto Latino inspire students

Rosario Dawson, Wilmer Valderrama and many South Florida leaders inspired and empowered students at Voto Latino’s Power Summit hosted at Modesto A. Maidique Campus on Saturday, June 14. The leadership conference included sessions on leadership, advocacy, media and technology.

Voto Latino is a nonpartisan organization that empowers Latinos to claim a better future for themselves and their community. Since 2012, the organization has convened summits engaging almost 600 Latino Millennials in workshops that present skills they will need to galvanize their communities and move those communities forward.

In addition to remarks by Dawson and Valderrama, Mayra Beers, Director of Operations for FIU’s Center for Leadership, presented a workshop on leadership style. Participants identified their own leadership perspective.
