Students at the Chaplin School have access to some of the most innovative learning spaces for hospitality management education. On June 18, Commercial Integrator, a trade magazine dedicated to addressing the business needs of professional integrators, recognized the use of technology in the School’s Wine Spectator Restaurant Management Lab with the BEST Award.

“With cooperation from AVI-SPL [the world’s leading video communications provider], we focused on providing our students with the collaborative technology that would give them an edge in the job market,” said Dale Gomez, director of University Computer Systems at the Chaplin School.

“What we now have is a space where video and audio technology helps faculty keep track of student performance, brings remote locations together for distance learning, and gives students an advantage over their counterparts at other schools,” he added.

The School won in the Best Higher Education Project category and winners were selected based on innovation, functionality, competitive advantages and benefits to the installer.

The BEST Awards recognize the most noteworthy new products and technologies for the year. The Integration Awards, presented by Commercial Integrator and Tech Decisions, recognize stand-out, problem-solving installations that address customers’ needs. Winners were chosen in 10 categories by the editors of Commercial Integrator and Tech Decisions. Each entry was judged on the benefits that the integrated technology would have for the intended user, as well as the innovation demonstrated.

The award was presented during the the 6th annual Commercial Integrator BEST Awards and the 3rd annual Integration Awards as part of the infoComm14 Show held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
