TEDxFIU 2014 will be held at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center on Thursday, Nov. 13. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and the event begins promptly at 5:30 p.m. Meet and mingle with speakers after the event at a catered reception.

If you can’t get a ticket, TEDxFIU will be aired simultaneously in the GC Pit at MMC and the Wolfe Center at BBC. The talks will also be streamed lived on tedxfiu.com.

This year’s theme is “Fearless Journey.” Talks will feature entrepreneurs and scholars, a novelist and a racecar driver, a cancer survivor and a singer-composer – all from the FIU community. Among the speakers, researcher Nicole Ruggiano has created a new paradigm on how to age with greater dignity. Alumnus Doug Jefferies has established a global humanitarian organization and novelist John Dufresne is the recipient of a MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship. Alumnus David Menasche decided to journey across America after learning he had brain cancer. Menasche’s story is the inspiration for the forthcoming Warner Bros. film The Priority List in which Steve Carrell will portray the FIU graduate.

Read more about the speakers at the TEDxFIU website.
