FIU’s Student-Athlete Leadership Council, led by Marcus Ghent from the track and field team and Adriana McLamb from volleyball, is on a mission with the Conference USA Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) to “SAAC” hunger.

The “Let’s SAAC Hunger Food Drive,” a conference-wide community service initiative, is a competition between each Conference USA institution to collect the most canned food items and donations between Oct. 1 and Dec. 15.

The goal is to raise awareness about hunger and solve the problem by collecting canned foods and donations for a local food bank or charity.

FIU is teaming up with Miami Rescue Mission, which has been serving the homeless and those in need in South Florida since 1922. At the end of the food drive, all donations collected will be delivered to their campus in downtown Miami.
